How we work

Barnack, Cambridgeshire Barnack, Cambridgeshire

There are over 40 CPRE branches throughout England and Wales, all but two (Durham and Northumberland) being independent charities. Our Patron is Queen Elizabeth II and many well-known people have taken on the role of President, including in recent years:

  • David Puttnam, Baron Puttnam 1985-1992
  • Jonathan Dimbleby 1992-1997
  • Prunella Scales 1997-2002
  • Sir Max Hastings 2002-2007
  • Bill Bryson 2007-2012
  • Andrew Motion 2012-2016 & current vice-president
  • Emma Bridgewater CBE 2016-current

Each branch has a Board of Trustees, and a Chairperson. Most have at least one paid staff member, but all rely heavily on volunteers for many of their activities.

CPRE has a national office in London and branches in every county. We are the branch for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough unitary authority.

Our trustees are the Chairman, Treasurer, and seven members elected at the Annual General Meeting (usually held in the summer).

The committee meets every two months at the branch’s office.  The committee meetings are also attended by members who have a particular expertise.

The branch shares an office with the East of England Region.

The part-time branch administrator is Tracey Hipson who can be contacted at:
