East Cambs District Council has been accused of attempting to use the COVID-19 lockdown to bypass normal planning scrutiny. Concerns have been raised over the siting of the platform, car park, and maintenance yard as part of the Soham new station gateway. There are additional serious concerns regarding proposals to build a residential development on environmentally sensitive wetland. Details can be see here: https://www.elystandard.co.uk/news/soham-rail-station-reader-letter-1-6685674 and all interested parties are urged to have their say on https://www.scambs.gov.uk/planning/view-or-comment-on-a-planning-application using the planning reference number 20/00561/P18.
