Honey Hill by Andy Field
We’ve highlighted our concerns regarding Anglian Water’s proposal to relocate the Cambridge WWTP from Milton to Honey Hill, which is in the Cambridge Green Belt (https://www.cprecambs.org.uk/cpre-news/2024/09/17/cambridge-waste-water-treatment-plant-update/). We’ve previously responded to Anglian Water’s consultations, and in November 2024 we wrote to the Planning Inspectorate outlining our objections. We also wrote to Steve Reed MP, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), responding to his letter inviting representations from interested parties to a Post Examination submission made by the Applicant. We’ve continued to maintain our strong objections to the relocation.
We were disappointed to learn that on 8th April that the Secretary of State for DEFRA granted consent for this application, despite the Planning Inspectors’ recommendation to refuse it. You can read more at https://national-infrastructure-consenting.planninginspectorate.gov.uk/projects/WW010003. We continue to support the stance taken by the Save Honey Hill Group https://www.savehoneyhill.org/.
