Proposed development of more than 200 new homes in Chatteris

CPRE London is leading a project promoting alternatives to building on Green Belt, in particular promoting use of town centre surface car parks as alternative sites for housing or mixed-use development. The project aims to show why parking policies are key to saving our countryside, bringing back our buses, reviving town centres – and even contributing to solving the housing crisis.

One of the examples where Green Belt or green fields are under threat, is a proposed development of more than 200 new homes in Chatteris - view a BBC article here. They aim to show that there could be a more 'liveable' alternative if we reimagine our town centres, converting some car parking space, instead of building on green fields.
